Braunsroda Manor

The current Baroque manor house was built in 1722 and has largely retained its original form to this day. In the early 20th century, it was expanded with an extension to the front and an entrance gate to the estate courtyard. The farm buildings were rebuilt in a fitting style in the early 1920s. Over almost three centuries, the estate changed hands only twice. After the von Trebra family had held dominion in the village since the 17th century, Hans von Trebra acquired the estate in 1901. Through the marriage of his daughter Adelheid to Levin Friedrich von Bismarck from Sollstedt, the von Trebra and von Bismarck families became connected, owning the property until 1945. After World War II and the death of Hans von Trebra's three sons, who fell in the war, the family was forced to leave the estate within a very short time under threat of arrest.
