Herrenhaus Büttelkow stands in the Büttelkow district of the municipality of Biendorf in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is characterized by its architectural blend of Neo-Baroque, Classicism, and Art Nouveau, and was a regional pioneer in its construction through the use of modern technology.

History+

Around 1910 to 1912, the Ballin banking family from Oldenburg commissioned the construction of Herrenhaus Büttelkow. Architect Paul Korff designed a building equipped with advanced features such as a central vacuum cleaning system and a hot water central heating system. Noteworthy were the reinforced concrete ceilings on all floors, a novelty for this type of building in the region. Originally, the Büttelkow estate covered about 240 hectares of agricultural land.
