Consbruch Manor (Hiddenhausen)

Haus Hiddenhausen (also: Gut Consbruch) is a noble seat in Hiddenhausen, North Rhine-Westphalia. The estate is located about 700 meters from Gut Bustedt, about three kilometers from Gut Oberbehme, and about 3.5 kilometers from Gut Steinlacke. The outbuildings in front of the manor house have housed a woodcraft museum since 1997.

The beginnings of the estate can be dated to around 1400, when the Nagel family began to buy up farms and ground rents (tithes) in Hiddenhausen, Oetinghausen, and Eilshausen. They thus became the landlords of the respective farmers. The Consbruch family, who took over the house from the Nagel family in 1701, including the associated ground rights, provided the bailiff of Enger. Thus, Haus Hiddenhausen was the administrative seat for the communities of Spenge, Enger, and Hiddenhausen (cf. administrative structure for the County of Ravensberg). Therefore, the house is also called the Amtshaus. The Consbruchs, in their function as bailiff, were simultaneously notaries, arbitrators, and judges. The buildings, with the manor house as the center, date from the 17th and 18th centuries. The estate is still owned by the von Consbruch family today.
