In the municipality of Damshagen is Damshagen Manor, a neoclassical manor house from the early 20th century. It is the ancestral seat of the von Plessen noble family and is currently vacant.

History+

Medieval castle and defensive structures were once razed to make way for a half-timbered manor house. This manor house, presumably built in the 17th century, was for centuries owned by the von Plessen family, who held the Damshagen estate from 1336 to 1945. Owners included the Mecklenburgian Lord Chamberlain Hans Adolf von Plessen and his son August.
