Deesberg Manor (Rehme)

The first known records of the Deesberg estate date to the 16th century. In 1567, Droste Bertram von Landsberg moved his residence here from Vlotho Castle. The estate changed hands in 1655, becoming the property of Baron von der Horst. In 1709, Vlotho Castle was sold for demolition, with its prison and barn remaining associated with Deesberg Manor. From 1739, the estate functioned as a state domain, and the prison was abolished in 1858. Vlotho Castle belonged to Deesberg Manor until 1889. A brickworks was established on the estate in the late 18th century, which developed into a commercial enterprise under later tenants. The brickworks ceased operations in 1962. Since 1914, the estate has been owned by the Rolfsmeyer family, who converted it to organic farming in 1980.
