Dolgen Manor

The first documented mention of the village of Dolgen dates back to 1285, when Nikolaus II of Werle granted it to the Rostock citizen Nikolaus. Shortly thereafter, it came into the possession of the Monastery of the Holy Cross. In the early 16th century, the von Drieberg family built a manor house on the foundations of a former castle. From 1782, the estate belonged to the von Plessen family. Leopold von Plessen, later a minister of Mecklenburg, had the manor house converted into a mansion in the early 19th century and used it during the summer months.
