The Historic "Alte Vogtei" in the Heart of the City+

The "Alte Vogtei" is one of the most significant historic buildings in the city and is located in the heart of the old town. Its history dates back to the Middle Ages, and it has undergone numerous changes and additions over the centuries.

Architectural Features and History+

The two-story building with a mansard roof was presumably built in the 18th century and today serves as a residential house.

Medieval Origins

The oldest parts of the building date back to the 13th century. At that time, it served as the seat of the local Vogt, who was responsible for administration and jurisdiction. From this period, parts of the foundation walls and a Gothic cellar vault are still preserved.

Renaissance and Baroque Additions

In the 16th century, the building was extensively renovated and expanded in the Renaissance style. A new facade with ornate window frames and a representative portal were added. In the 18th century, further modifications in the Baroque style followed, including the addition of the mansard roof and the stucco ceilings in some of the interior rooms.

19th and 20th Century

In the 19th century, the "Alte Vogtei" was converted into a residential building and divided into several apartments. Minor alterations were made in the 20th century, but the historic structure was largely preserved.

Current Use and Future+

Today, the "Alte Vogtei" is privately owned and is used for residential purposes. The owners are committed to preserving the historic substance of the building and regularly carry out necessary renovation and maintenance work. The "Alte Vogtei" remains an important landmark of the city and a living testimony to its rich history.
