Großenhof Manor

Herrenhaus Großenhof in Warnow-Großenhof, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is a half-timbered building erected on the foundations of a medieval moated castle.

The estate's origins date back to the 14th century when Knight Johannes Storm had a moated castle built here. In 1445, Helmold von Plesse zu Arpshagen acquired the estate from Heinrich Kulebuß, and just ten years later, in 1455, his brother Bernd von Plesse took over the castle. The von Plesse(n) family remained owners for centuries, including figures like Volrad von Plesse, who owned the estate until 1618. In 1660, under Kuno von Plesse, the current half-timbered manor house was built on the remains of the moated castle. Until 1724, Kord Joachim von Plesse managed the estate. Großenhof, along with Damshagen, was an ancestral seat of the von Plesse(n) family in the Klützer Winkel.
