To be privately owned

In 1266, Hammetweil Castle was first mentioned in a document as Nohmuotwiler. It changed hands frequently in the first centuries; from 1543–1805, it belonged to the Württemberg hereditary marshals, the Barons Thumb von Neuburg, who converted it into a castle in the 16th century. From 1805–1866, ownership transferred to the Thumb as a Württemberg male fief and has remained the property of the Thumb family ever since. In 1821, parts of the castle were demolished, and in 1868, the manor house was built.
