Helmern Manor

The origins of the area around Helmern date back to the 13th century, when the village belonged to the counts of Everstein. During this period, a large part of the Helmern land was transferred to surrounding monasteries such as Willebadessen, the Heerse Abbey, and the Cistercians in Hardehausen. Later, ownership passed to the von Niehausen family, who gained importance in the 15th century and served as castellans in Borgholz and Peckelsheim.
