Helmern Manor

In the 13th century, the village of Helmern belonged to the county of the Count of Everstein. Various documents show that in the 13th century, much of Helmern's land was transferred to the local monasteries of Willebadessen, the Heerse Abbey, and the Cistercians in Hardehausen.

Later, the castle and land in Helmern were largely owned by the von Niehausen family, who experienced a great upswing in the 15th century. Members of this family were burgmannen in Borgholz and Peckelsheim together with the von Spiegel zu Peckelsheim family. From this point on, the local and regional history of the small village of Helmern is closely linked with the history of the old knightly family "von Spiegel zu Peckelsheim auf Helmern". This noble family has, over the centuries, rendered great services in the development and economic growth, not only of the municipality of Helmern, but also of the Warburg district, as well as in ecclesiastical matters in the Diocese of Paderborn.

In the 18th century, the castle was demolished, and in the 19th century, the present manor house was erected.
