Hütscheroda Manor

The history of the estate is closely linked to the von Wangenheim family, who became owners of the Hütscheroda estate around 1527 and were among the most significant landowners in the region. In 1680, the current manor house was built on the foundations of a 13th-century sheep farm. The estate once included extensive lands. Before World War II, the then lord of the manor, Eichel-Streiber, sold part of the land for a military training area, which was later used by Soviet forces as a tank firing range.
