Katelbogen Manor

The first documented mention of the Katelbogen estate dates back to 1348, when it was owned by the von Zernin family. In the late Middle Ages, it gained notoriety as a robber baron's castle. In 1549, the estate passed to Jürgen Wackerbarth, who served as a canon in Bützow. In 1631, Wackerbarth mortgaged the property to Joachim Lohrmann, a citizen of Rostock, and the Wackerbarth family soon after lost possession. From 1662 to 1798, with a brief interruption, the estate belonged to the von Plessen family. This was followed by the von Plüskows, and from 1856, the Jasmund family. The current manor house was built in 1898 for Fritz von Voß, who had owned the estate since 1895.
