Krauschütz Manor

The earliest mention of the Krauschütz estate dates back to 1502, when Georg and Hans von Köckritz sold certain revenues in Krauschütz to Georg von Saxony, a transaction repeated in 1513 with Jacob and Otto von Köckritz. In 1727, both Elsterwerda Castle and the Krauschütz estate came into the possession of King August the Strong through a judicial auction, who transformed it into a chamber estate. Following the division of Saxony in 1815, as a result of the Congress of Vienna, the chamber estate became the royal domain of Krauschütz. In April 1898, Richard Barthel took over the domain. In 1932, the Krauschütz domain was parcelled out by the Siedlungsgesellschaft Sachsenland. In 1940, it was forcibly incorporated into the municipality of Elsterwerda, a status that lasted until 1992, when the district regained its traditional name Krauschütz. The manor house itself was likely built in the first half of the 18th century.
