History+

The first documented mention of Krummbek, whose name suggests a "crooked stream," dates back to 1327. Originally a farming village belonging to Reinfeld Monastery, it later fell into disuse and was incorporated as a farmstead into the Schulenburg estate. In this configuration, it came into the possession of the French Marshal Count Nicolas von Luckner. After his death by guillotine during the Reign of Terror in Paris, the property passed to his son. In 1803, the Krummbek farmstead was separated from the Schulenburg estate and sold as an independent noble estate. Ludwig Carl Christoph Freiherr von Liliencron, married to Countess Juliane von Luckner, became the first owner.
