The manor house Letmathe, an estate, is located in the eponymous district of Iserlohn in the Märkischer Kreis, North Rhine-Westphalia. Its origins date back to the early Middle Ages, while the current architectural state dates from the early 17th century. Today, it houses a library and a local history museum.

History+

A predecessor building was first mentioned in a document around the year 1036. The original Lords of Letmathe were vassals of the Counts of Limburg and Altena-Mark. The last known representative of this family lived in the late 14th century. From 1576, the Lords of Brabeck from Kirchhellen took over the manor and kept it until 1812. This family included figures such as Prince-Bishop Jobst Edmund von Brabeck and the art connoisseur Friedrich Moritz von Brabeck. After the Brabecks, the entrepreneur Wilhelm Ebbinghaus became the lord of the house in 1812.
