Ludwigsdorf Manor

The history of Ludwigsdorf is closely intertwined with the city of Görlitz, which acquired the village as early as 1539 and owned it until 1655. In 1665, the estate's dominion was divided, with Nieder-Ludwigsdorf becoming the primary center of power, while Ober-Ludwigsdorf passed into the possession of the Görlitz citizenry. In 1708, the merchant Christian Friedrich Fromberg, who was also the hereditary lord of Klingewalde and Deutsch Ossig, acquired this citizen-owned property. Fromberg was ennobled in 1732, granting him various privileges such as tax exemption and jurisdiction.
