Ludwigsdorf Manor

From 1539 to 1655, Ludwigsdorf was already in the possession of the city of Görlitz, as in 1539 the honorable council of the Royal City of Görlitz had bought this village from Urban Emrich. In 1665, the lordship of the estate was divided, so that Nieder-Ludwigsdorf became the dominant center of power. Ober-Ludwigsdorf passed into the possession of the Görlitz citizenry. In 1708, the aforementioned citizenry's property then came into the hands of the merchant Christian Friedrich Fromberg. He was simultaneously the hereditary lord of the towns of Klingewalde and Deutsch Ossig. In 1732, the merchant received noble rank and thus all associated privileges (tax exemption, exercise of jurisdiction, among others).

The stone inscription tablets of the manor house of the Niederhof from 1773 and 1880 indicate the owners and builders of the place. The manor house itself dates from the second half of the 16th century. In 1621, Mr. von Salza from Ebersbach bought Ludwigsdorf. The last owner of the estate, Hans Schneider, was dispossessed in 1945. Today, the manor house serves as a citizen's office and daycare center.
