In Grundhof-Lundsgaard in the district of Schleswig-Flensburg, Schleswig-Holstein, is Lundsgaard Manor, a country estate. Its history dates back to the 15th century and is characterized by changing noble families and an evolution from a moated castle to a modern agricultural enterprise.

History+

In the 15th century, a moated castle stood on this site, belonging to the knight Erik Nielssen. Duke Adolph I of Schleswig withdrew the fief from him and transferred it to Jürgen Lund. The early castle complex was part of a defense system against attacks by the Wends. In the 16th century, the estate came into the possession of Wolf von der Wisch. Later, the noble family of Rantzau took over the rule.
