Herrenhaus Merschwitz+
Geschichte+

Merschwitz, the neighboring village of Seusslitz, is located directly on an old trade route from Breslau to Leipzig, which crossed the Elbe here. This was the oldest and most important ferry in the Margraviate of Meissen. In the 14th century, Merschwitz belonged to the Seusslitz monastery. In 1543, Dr. Simon Pistoris bought the estate. The family, later ennobled, owned the estate until 1833. After that, it came into bourgeois possession. The manor house, which stands on the foundations of an older predecessor building, probably only acquired its current external form in 1807. After the land reform, the municipality came into possession of the house and housed a kindergarten and the municipal office there. Today the property is privately owned.
