Mittelsömmern Manor

The history of Herrenhaus Mittelsömmern began in 1243. Originally designed as a moated castle, it served for centuries as a noble residence for various aristocratic families, including the Lords of Husen. Although it was not a freeholding but an official knight's estate, it changed ownership several times. In 1807, it passed to the von Feilitsch family, who sold the lands in 1831 to ten residents of Mittelsömmern. The municipality acquired the manor house and subsequently used it for communal purposes. In the 19th century, the interiors housed a restaurant and a cultural space.
