Niederberge Manor

The origins of the Lords of Berge date back to the 13th century, when their existence was documented. In the early 14th century, they served as vassals to the Count of Arnsberg. After 1384, the property changed hands to the noble families of Mülsborn, followed by the families of Schade and von Ense. In 1548, ownership passed to Dietrich von Plettenberg through his marriage to Ida von Ense. Another marriage in the next generation led to Henrich von Holdinghausen, the Siegen bailiff, becoming the owner. In 1661, Jobst Edmund von Brabeck purchased the heavily indebted estate for 20,330 Taler.
