Nustrow Manor

The origins of the estate date back to the 15th century, when the noble Behr family owned a castle here. This was destroyed in 1420 during a feud by the cities of Greifswald and Stralsund. In the early 16th century, a successor building with a castle-like character and moats was erected on the same site. In 1794, the estate changed hands and passed to the House of Schack. At this time, the castle was in poor condition. Ernst Peter von Schack, who owned the estate from 1813, had the old castle demolished around 1830. Only the foundations and an older side wing remained. The current neoclassical manor house was completed under his aegis by 1837 at the latest. Its attribution to architect Carl Theodor Severin is not definitively proven.
