Oberfrauenau Manor

The origins of the Oberfrauenau estate date back to 1492 when an existing glassworks changed hands. In 1605, Franz Poschinger acquired the glassworks estate, which has remained in the possession of the Poschinger family ever since. Around 1650, the current manor house, the so-called Old Castle, was built. Elector Karl Theodor granted Benedikt Poschinger the lower Hofmannsrecht and a noble title in 1785, elevating the estate to a Hofmark and releasing it from electoral suzerainty. In the early 19th century, further glassworks were established on the grounds, including the Neuhütte built around 1825 by Georg Benedikt von Poschinger, which, however, burned down in 1860.
