Purschwitz Manor

In Purschwitz, a manor house was first mentioned in 1242. In the 15th century, the estate was owned by the Lords of Doberschütz. In 1503, the property was referred to as a knight's seat, and from 1589 as a knight's estate, which now belonged to Melchior von Kalkreuth. In 1589, ownership changed to the city of Bautzen. In 1638, it was handed over to Antonius Rosenhain as collateral and redeemed again in 1708. In 1738, ownership changed to the Lords of Döring, who built the manor house in 1842. In 1910, ownership changed to the Zimmermann family. In 1945, the last owner, Eberhard Jäckel, was dispossessed and expelled by the communists. After 1945, the manor house served as living space, municipal office, and nursery. In 1962, a school was established in the manor house.
