History+

The first documented mention of the Quarnbek estate dates back to 1282. The first known owner was Knight Schak Rantzau. In the 16th century, a moated castle was built on this site, which was depicted around 1587 on the Rantzau Panel commissioned by Heinrich Rantzau. In 1671, Hans Henrich von Kielmansegg had a gatehouse built, offering a direct line of sight to the moated castle.
