Renkhausen Manor (Lübbecke)
Renkhausen Manor is a stately home in the Gehlenbeck district of the city of Lübbecke, situated between the Wiehen Hills and the Mittelland Canal in the Minden-Lübbecke district.
The manor stands on the walls of an old moated castle and was first documented in 1278. Between 1543 and 1817, five noble families are recorded as owners. Through marriages and acquisitions, it temporarily also came into the possession of the Herren von Mentzingen family. In 1817, the manor was acquired by the Stille family from Lübbecke, who sold it around 1960.
The current building structure dates from the 18th century. Originally built in half-timbered style, the manor was converted in 1896 into a villa-like stately home in the Neo-Renaissance style.
Current Use+
The manor has been in family ownership for more than a hundred years. It has been extensively renovated in recent years and is still used for agriculture together with the Crollage and Hudenbeck estates.
In addition to agricultural use, civil weddings can be held in the premises, and the festive rooms can be used for social gatherings.
The "Café im kleinen Stall" (Café in the small stable) is used as a starting point for bike tours into the Große Torfmoor or along the Mittelland Canal. Numerous mills of the Westphalian Mill Route are in the immediate vicinity.
In 2004, the national championship in competitive ploughing with participants from all over Germany took place here.
