Retzow Manor

The current Bredow Manor House was approved in 1870 as a new building, replacing the previous house, by the district administrator of Rathenow.

The manor house was built in the tradition of late Classicist architectural style as a simple two-story plastered building with a gabled roof.

Between 1900 and 1909, the then owner Ernst von Bredow (1865–1909) had the house extended on the street front in historicist style with neo-baroque elements. The center of the facade received a tower-like projection with a grooved plinth, which extended over two floors and found its crowning glory in an oversized helmet with a lantern.

In the following years, the manor house transformed again, both in its structural design and its use. Structurally, it transformed this time under reversed signs. The tower-like projection with its roof structure was removed, thus returning it approximately to its original form from 1870. Its use changed from a residential building to a schoolhouse; today it sleeps a Sleeping Beauty sleep and awaits its further use.
