Rhade Manor (Oberbrügge)

The origins of Haus Rhade can be traced back to before the year 1003. Archaeological finds, including 29 artifacts from the Mesolithic period, indicate earlier settlement. A predecessor building once stood on the Lindenhügel before the manor house at its current location was first mentioned in a document in 1003. The property belonged to the Counts of the Mark. Around 1400, Count Adolf II of Kleve-Mark pledged the estate to Hermann Overlacker. Another pledging to Deutz Abbey occurred in 1534. Elector Georg Wilhelm of Brandenburg, as heir to the Märkisch possessions, sold Haus Rhade to the von Heyden family in 1617. As they rarely inhabited the property, it fell into disrepair.
