Rhade Manor (Oberbrügge)

Haus Rhade is a manor house in Kierspe (Märkischer Kreis). Its origins date back to before the year 1003.

A resting place (29 artifacts) from the Mesolithic period was found near Haus Rhade. A predecessor building stood on the Lindenhügel. At its current location, Haus Rhade was first mentioned in 1003. The property later belonged to the Counts of the Mark. Count Adolf II of Kleve-Mark mortgaged the house and its associated property around 1400 to Hermann Overlacker. Later, it was mortgaged again in 1534 to Deutz Abbey. Elector Georg Wilhelm of Brandenburg, as heir to the Märkisch possessions, had Haus Rhade sold to the von Heyden family in 1617. However, they rarely lived there, so it increasingly fell into disrepair. In 1725, it was sold along with its associated rights. Until 1910, it was owned by the von Holtzbrinck family. In the 20th century, it changed hands several times again.
