Scheven Manor (Krefeld)

The manor house of the von Billerbeck family is a historic building with a rich past. It is located in the heart of the village of Billerbeck and has shaped the appearance of the village for centuries.

The manor house was built in the 16th century by the von Billerbeck family, who were one of the most influential noble families in the region. Over the centuries, the manor house was repeatedly rebuilt and expanded, so that it today presents itself as a complex of buildings from various eras.

In the 18th century, the manor house was extensively renovated and received its present Baroque appearance. The magnificent facade with its ornate decorations and the impressive entrance portal still bear witness to the splendor of that era today.

In the 19th century, the manor house was inherited by the von Münster family, who owned it until the mid-20th century. During this time, the manor house experienced another heyday and was a social meeting point for the regional nobility.

The manor house is a two-story plastered building with a hipped roof. The facade is structured by pilasters and cornices and decorated with various ornaments. Particularly striking is the central risalit, which is crowned by a triangular gable.

Inside the manor house, numerous historic rooms have been preserved, including the magnificent ballroom, the library, and various salons. The rooms are furnished with antique furniture and paintings and give an impression of the former living culture of the nobility.

A special feature of the manor house is the extensive park, which was laid out in the 18th century. The park with its old trees, winding paths, and romantic ponds invites you to stroll and relax.

The manor house is now privately owned and cannot be visited.
