Schönau Manor

Herrenhaus Schönau near Königswartha stands on the grounds of a medieval moated castle, which previously stood in the monastery water located here. The von Luttitz family, who are mentioned in Lusatia as early as the 14th century, are named as long-term owners. The house was built in 1710 under Christian Gottlob von Luttitz. A coat of arms stone above the entrance shows the initials of Christian Gottlob von Luttitz and his wife Susanna Magdalena Freiin von Miltitz. In 1837, the then owner Ernst Ferdinand von Loeben sold his estate to St. Marienstern Abbey. As ecclesiastical property, the estate thus did not fall under the land reform in 1945. The rectangular, compact building with a hip roof is still owned by the monastery today and is in excellent condition.
