Herrenhaus Schönböken, a manor house, is located in the municipality of Ruhwinkel-Schönböken in the Plön district, Schleswig-Holstein, surrounded by a lime tree avenue.

History+

The origins of Schönböken date back to around 1800, when it was founded as a Meierhof of the Perdoel estate. As early as 1806, it was elevated to the status of a noble estate, being separated from Perdoel along with the villages of Ruhwinkel and Belau. The current manor house was built in 1805 and acquired its form through a renovation and extension in 1870. In 1936, the Wehrmacht acquired the estate to establish a remount office there, which was expanded into a research and experimental stud farm from 1941.
