Springhoe Manor (Lockstedt)

Gut Springhoe is a manor farm in the municipality of Lockstedt, which is now operated as a stud farm.

The estate is located in the southwest of the municipality on the former Lübsche Trade route and the mill pond, which is fed by the Mühlenbarbeker Au stream. A watermill once stood there, first documented in 1148. It soon came into the possession of the Itzehoe monastery, and for the villages of Overndorf and Grönhude - today districts of Kellinghusen - also owned by the monastery, there was a milling obligation to Springhoe. This also applied to the monastic subjects in the Aukrug villages, who were not allowed to use the royal Bünzer watermill.

At this time, a Meierhof (a type of manor farm) also developed next to the mill. The farm and mill were initially operated directly by the monastery, but in the following centuries, the monastery first leased the farm and later also the mill. Among the tenants were members of Holstein noble families such as Rumohr, Krummendiek, Sehestedt, and Pogwisch.

In 1899, the farm buildings and the mill burned down. In 1902, the buildings, with the exception of the mill, were rebuilt. The mill pond was later still used for carp breeding.

Today, Gut Springhoe is a Trakehner and Lewitzer stud farm.
