Herrenhaus Springhoe, a historic manor and estate house, is located in the municipality of Lockstedt in Schleswig-Holstein. Originally developed from a farmstead and a watermill, it is now a privately run stud farm with a long history connected to Itzehoe Abbey.
History+
The origins of Gut Springhoe date back to 1148, when a watermill was first documented. This mill, along with a developing farmstead, came into the possession of Itzehoe Abbey. The surrounding monastic villages were subject to compulsory milling at Springhoe. The abbey leased both the farm and the mill to various Holstein noble families. In 1899, the farm buildings and the mill were destroyed by a fire. The farm buildings were reconstructed in 1902, but the mill was not rebuilt.
