Stendorf Manor

The first mention of the Stendorf estate, originally named "Steindorf" (Stone Village), dates back to the 13th century. From 1654, it formed a family property together with the Mönchneversdorf and Lensahn estates, which expanded to include thirteen estates by the time the estate districts were dissolved in 1928. In the 18th century, the complex underwent a redesign: the original manor house, surrounded by a moat, was replaced by a new building from 1750, and a park was created. In 1876, a hunting lodge was built on a hill by Lake Stendorf, which was converted into the current manor house in 1932. Until 1932, the estate belonged to the Dukes of Oldenburg before being sold to a Hamburg merchant family. Between 2000 and 2008, the buildings underwent a renovation, and the park was partially restored.
