Stora Ek Manor
South of the Swedish city of Mariestad is Stora Ek Manor. It is renowned for its 18th-century architecture.
History+
The first documented mention of Stora Ek dates back to 1462. In the 18th century, the estate came into the possession of the Scheffer family, who initiated the construction of the current manor house. The building was erected between 1768 and 1778, with the designs likely attributed to the architect Jean Eric Rehn. In 1967, Stora Ek was declared a cultural monument.
