Tanneberg Manor

The earliest references to Tanneberg date back to 1227, when „Wernherus et Pribizlaus de Tanninberch“ were mentioned, suggesting an early manorial seat. In 1282, „Gebeharus de Tannenberg“ was noted. The locality itself appeared in 14th-century documents and was later divided into „Alt Tanneberg“ and „Neu Tanneberg“. The current manor house has its origins in a medieval castle complex built between 1200 and 1250. For centuries, the owners of the Tanneberg estate exercised manorial rights and jurisdiction. After a period under Altzella Monastery, ownership of the knight's estate changed hands several times in the early 15th century, including to Freiberg mayor Peter Alnpeck and various noble families such as von Staupitz, von Heynitz, and von Hartitzsch.
