Testorf Manor

The origins of the Testorf estate date back to the Middle Ages when the land belonged to the Cismar monastery. In 1460, the Buchwaldt family acquired the site and built a fortified manor house around 1482. From 1565, under the Blome family, the estate economy was established. A manor house built in 1606 was destroyed in 1644 during the Thirty Years' War. After the Blomes left in 1681, the estate experienced numerous changes of ownership, including the House of Hesse-Kassel and the Reventlow and Brockdorff families. The current manor house was built in 1774, with vaults from the original 1482 building still preserved in the cellar. The large gatehouse also dates from this period. From 1879, the estate was owned by the Abercron family, who still manage it today.
