Thum Manor

The origins of the estate date back to the early 15th century, when the judges of Thum were enfeoffed with a free fiefdom behind the church and a deserted homestead near the church. The lands of this court presumably extended to the Hofwiesen in Jahnsbach and the Thum municipal forest. The fiefdom included surrounding mines, a stamping mill, and a smelting hut. By the end of the 15th century, the court and the homestead, along with the jurisdiction, passed to the town of Thum. The later knight's estate, also known as the “Edelhof beim Elend,” encompassed, in addition to the surrounding houses, Herold, a lime works, forest houses, the Knochengut, and parts of Drebach.
