Vollenschier Manor

In 1484, Gebhard von Alvensleben received Vollenschier as a fief. He first established an outwork and later the manor. The existing manor house was built in the Baroque period in the mid-18th century as a single-story building. The manor belonged to Baron von Etzel. Later, his son-in-law Baron von Kloppmann took over the estate.

Both on the front and on the rear garden side, there is a gabled risalit. The facade is structured by mirror surfaces below and keystones above the windows, as well as corner pilasters and a projecting roof cornice. The building is covered by a mansard hip roof with four dormer windows.

The entrance leads into a centrally located, hexagonal hall in the floor plan, which features a dynamically structured stucco ceiling. In the 18th century, a geometrically laid out Baroque garden was located behind the manor house.

Horses, sheep, cows, and oxen were kept on the estate, and arable farming was practiced. In addition, there was a manor nursery. The von Kloppmann family was dispossessed in the summer of 1945 – Vollenschier belonged to the Soviet occupation zone. Baron von Kloppmann fled to West Germany. However, the estate remained intact and was continued as a public estate with animal and plant breeding. The manor house was initially inhabited until about 1990 and then in great need of renovation. The operation of the estate was also discontinued in 1990/91.

In 1992, the von Engelbrechten family, who are distantly related to the former owners, acquired the estate. The manor house was renovated. The family moved to Vollenschier in 2004 and also resumed agricultural operations.
