The Heßberg Manor House, a historic estate, is located in the Hessian municipality of Bad Zwesten-Betzigerode.

History+

The first documented mention of Betzigerode dates back to 1296, when it was owned by the Lords of Löwenstein-Westerburg. In 1523, Heinrich von Löwenstein-Romrod acquired the locality and established an estate there. The necessary laborers for the farm were settled along the Scheren-Graben. After 1661, when the estate and village of Betzigerode belonged to the noble family Hund, it was divided in 1686 through inheritance between the von Dalwigk family and a Major Eckhard. Landgrave Karl purchased the estate in 1713 from the Lords of Sobiwolski and transferred it to his son Maximilian.
