Warmenau Manor

The gatehouse, manor house, and the manor's watermill are inhabited. Agricultural outbuildings on the moat islands, mostly built in half-timbered style, are partly in very poor condition and dilapidated. The moat and garden are heavily overgrown.

In 1852, the current owner, von Brincke, purchased the estates of Wallenbrück (now demolished) and Warmenau. Warmenau was initially owned by the von Cappel family. Around 1560, a Heinrich v. Cappel is recorded as the owner. The von Cappels already belonged to the Ravensberg knighthood in 1470, which is why they may have been the lords of Warmenau as early as 1470 (see Horst). In 1686, the manor came into the possession of the von Nagel zu Wallenbrück family through purchase, from whom it was inherited by the von dem Bussche family in 1775. At the beginning of the 19th century, August von der Groeben bought the manor, selling it in 1832 to Rittmeister Soest zu Melle. In Soest's bankruptcy in 1852, Count von Korff gen. Schmising-Kerssenbrock zu Brincke acquired the Hanoverian part (i.e., the part now in Lower Saxony) of the manor.
