Warmenau Manor

The origins of the Warmenau estate stretch back. As early as around 1470, the Lords of Cappel may have been the owners, as they belonged to the Ravensberg knighthood at that time. A Heinrich von Cappel is mentioned as owner around 1560. In 1686, the estate changed hands through purchase to the von Nagel zu Wallenbrück family. They bequeathed the property to the von dem Bussche family in 1775. At the beginning of the 19th century, August von der Groeben acquired the estate, but sold it in 1832 to Rittmeister Soest from Melle. During Soest's bankruptcy in 1852, Count von Korff gen. Schmising-Kerssenbrock zu Brincke purchased the Hanoverian part of the estate, which today belongs to Lower Saxony.
