Wedigenstein Manor (Barkhausen)

The exact time of Wedigenstein Estate's creation is unknown, but an early mention dates back to 1282: A Franco von Dehem is named as castellan of Wedigenstein Castle, with the Lords of Dehme holding parts of the castle as a fief. A storm in 1379 led to Minorite monks renewing a dilapidated chapel on the estate grounds out of gratitude for their survival. In 1652, the wood court convened at Wedigenstein, requiring all commoners to appear. Until 1818, the estate belonged to the Minden Cathedral Chapter. Heinrich Ludwig Schumacher acquired it in 1817 as a hereditary lease from the Prussian treasury.
