Zichtau Manor
Gut Zichtau is a manor house in Zichtau, a district of the Hanseatic city of Gardelegen in the north of Saxony-Anhalt.
The estate had been owned by the von Alvensleben family since 1466. Around 1600, Ludolf XIII von Alvensleben (1555–1610) built a residential house and took up residence there. In 1681, a division into the estates "Alte Seite" (Old Side) and "Neue Seite" (New Side) took place. The "Neue Seite" estate was acquired in 1811 by district official Johann Solbrig. The "Alte Seite" estate changed hands in 1812, but was reacquired by the Alvensleben family in 1815 and finally sold in 1847. Around 1820, a large landscape park was laid out at the manor house. This partly included the surrounding Hellberge hills. Two ponds, park paths, and seating areas were created.
In 1850, Solbrig died. His heirs sold the estate in 1860 to the ducal-Anhalt minister Albert von Goßler, whose family owned it until the forced expropriation by the communists in 1945.
Current Condition+
The remaining estate buildings are in need of renovation or in a ruinous state. In addition to the manor house, an octagonal dovecote from the 19th century is preserved. The landscape park is overgrown. Noteworthy are two gate pillars adorned with an Alvensleben alliance coat of arms and initials, which date from 1738. They refer to Anna Hedwig von Alvensleben (1721–1772), who married her cousin Levin Ludolf von Alvensleben (1715–1750) in 1738.
