The Hof Conti was built between 1588 and 1609 as the residence of Prince-Bishop Julius Ludwig Echter von Mespelbrunn. Since 1817, the Hof has served as the residence of the Bishops of Würzburg. On March 16, 1945, the building was destroyed by the senseless bombing and rebuilt between 1959 and 1961.
