Hofgut Hauenstein, a manor and estate, is situated in the Bavarian Spessart, in the Kahlgrund between Krombach-Oberschur and Mömbris.

History+

The name Hauenstein originates from the Haubergswirtschaft, a form of land use practiced here in earlier times, involving a cyclical rotation of forest and arable farming. In 1841, Baron Waitz v. Eschen had the estate built, partly using stones from the nearby Hauenstein Castle Ruin. The original operational area covered approximately 340 hectares. After a period, the estate was divided into smaller parcels and sold. The estate complex itself was partitioned in 1896, with each side of the estate now comprising about 20 hectares.
