Hofmark Castle

To be privately owned

Hofmarksschloss Achdorf, a building in the Achdorf district of Landshut, was originally a moated castle and is now private property.

History+

The first documented mention of Achdorf dates back to 1140, when it served as the ancestral seat of the Achdorfer family, who owned a moated castle on this site. In 1395, Andreas Achdorfer and his wife Dorathea sold the property to Duke Friedrich the Wise of Bavaria-Landshut. Subsequently, Achdorf was directly subordinate to the ducal castellan until the Hofmark changed ownership in 1573. In the following centuries, the castle was owned by various noble families, including the Schleich, Planck, Dürnitz, Hagen, Arco, and Leyden. In the early 19th century, the Hofmark was dissolved, and until 1848, the Gräflich von Leydensche Patrimonialgericht II. Klasse Achdorf existed.
