Huis te Eerbeek
On the northeastern edge of the village of Eerbeek in the Dutch province of Gelderland is Huis te Eerbeek, a historic castle. Originally designed as a hunting lodge, it featured a three-winged complex and a surrounding moat.
History+
The origins of Huis te Eerbeek lie with the Lords of Bronckhorst, who used it as a hunting lodge. In 1553, after the childless death of Joost von Bronckhorst-Batenburg, the estate passed to his niece Irmgard von Wisch and her husband Georg von Limburg-Styrum. The Limburg-Styrum family held the property for an extended period until Otto von Limburg-Styrum sold it to Goswijn de Buininck in 1658 due to significant debts. A council of war was held at Huis te Eerbeek in 1665 during the Anglo-Dutch War.
