Isenburger Hof Manor

The origins of the Isenburger Hof in Heddesdorf are obscure, but it is certain that the Isenburg family owned the property until 1528. By 1562, the estate was referred to as the “wiedischer Hof,” indicating that the Counts of Wied had acquired it around that time. A property register from 1528 listed 63 Morgen of land, which decreased to 46 Morgen by 1643. Count Johann von Wied mortgaged the estate to his son Hermann in 1579. After Hermann's early death in 1591, ownership passed to Johann Wilhelm von Wied. Upon his death in 1633, Philipp Ludwig von Wied inherited the estate but sold it for 6000 Gulden to his mother Magdalena von Hardeck due to financial difficulties. After her death in 1657, her unmarried daughter Johanna Walpurgis inherited most of the assets. Despite the interest of her cousin, Count Friedrich III zu Wied, she maintained possession. After her death in 1672, the estate was used by Christoph von Stein. In 1683, Count Friedrich sold the estate to Carl Ludwig von Sayn for 4160 Reichstaler, a carriage, and a ring.
