Diebzig Castle

The hunting lodge was built in the first half of the 18th century by the princely family in Diebzig. After the extinction of the Köthen line of the House of Anhalt in 1847, the castle fell to the Duchy of Anhalt Dessau. Duke Joachim von Askanien had the valuable furnishings brought to Zerbst Castle in 1919, where they were destroyed in American bombing raids during World War II. The chestnut trees in front of the building were planted in 1905. After the ducal house renounced the throne in 1918, the hunting lodge became a forest district office and residence for foresters. In 1945, the owners were expropriated by the communists.

In 1971, the forest district office was dissolved with the death of forester Gräber. His widow kept the apartment until her death.
