Das Jagdschloss Elsfleth wurde 1655-1657 durch Graf Anton Günther von Oldenburg errichtet. 1718 wechselte der Besitz an die Familie von Münnich aus Neuenhuntorf bei Berne. Hiernach wechselte der Besitz 1852 an Gerhard Cornelius Heye. Dieser ließ auf den Mauern des alten Schlosses das heutige Haus errichten.
