Jagdschloss Hohen Niendorf, a historic estate in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, combines a former manor house with an expansive park. Originally conceived as a manor house, it was later transformed into a hunting lodge and now serves as accommodation for travelers.

History+

The building was constructed in 1865 as a manor house, commissioned by Count v. Wilamowitz-Möllendorff and designed by the Wismar architect Heinrich Thormann. A redesign and expansion took place in 1912, during which the estate was converted into a hunting lodge. The accompanying castle park, an English landscape garden, was already laid out in 1866 according to the plans of a Rostock landscape architect. After the expropriation of the owners in 1945, the manor house served as a holiday home for the FDGB in the 1970s.
