History+
The origins of Langreith Hunting Lodge date back to the 15th century, when a manor house stood on this site by Hintersee. This building was completely destroyed by fire during the Peasants' War in 1525/26. As early as 1528, the court officials of the Wartenfels judicial district committed to rebuilding the manor house and had to provide guarantors to Archbishop Matthäus Lang. In 1556, the manor house, granary, and kitchen were re-roofed. Reports from 1617 indicated structural damage, and in 1657, the house stood empty after the game and fish warden moved out. Although the roof was repaired in 1659, windows and ovens remained broken, yet the house continued to be used for hunting. Extensive repairs are documented for 1691 and 1705. In 1694, an apartment for hunters and their assistants was set up in the adjacent Herrenkuchel, and in 1699, a horse and stable were added to the cowshed. After a retired hunter moved in in 1724, the vaults in the ground floor and vestibule had to be demolished in 1741, revealing soot-blackened walls from the Peasants' War era.
